چکیده
Infestations with salmon lice and subsequent management is one of the most challenging costly aspects marine salmonid aquaculture. Both handling treatment, specifically non-medicinal against cause stress physical injuries to host, Atlantic ( Salmo salar ). This in turn leads reduced appetite increased mortality. In this study, we have estimated short-term growth loss related treatments (thermal, mechanical, hydrogen peroxide bath, freshwater bath combination medicinal baths) for removal lice. To achieve this, obtained daily production data at cage-level from 2014 2019 three large Norwegian aquaculture companies. We used registered feed-amount, number fish seawater temperature cage level calculate thermal coefficient (TGC) 635 fish-groups week before a pre-treatment starvation period after 2530 different estimate reduction TGC. modelled outcome using mixed effect linear regression model, treatment method as main fixed interest weight, temperature, smolt-age year-class included effects. Results showed suboptimal feeding all methods, where methods had significantly larger negative on compared treatments. Atlantic salmon – Salmo salar
Distribution Th e species’ range encompasses Europe, North America, and Green land (1) (Fig.1). Non-anadromous forms occur in Europe in a few land-locked locations in Norway and Sweden, and throughout the Neva/Lake Ladoga system and Karelia regions of Russia. In North America non-anadromous forms occurred throughout most of the species’ historical range, as far west as Lake Ontario, and remain ...
متن کاملTelemetry reveals how catch and release affects prespawning migration in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar)
With the decline of many exploited fish populations, catch and release has become an increasingly usedmanagement practice to allow sport fishing while reducing its impact on wild populations. However, survival and reproductive success can vary according to the catch and release technique and environmental conditions, suggesting a potential impact of this practice on prespawning behaviour. Here ...
متن کاملImmunoglobulin Isotypes in Atlantic Salmon, Salmo Salar
There are three major immunoglobulin (Ig) isotypes in salmonid fish: IgM, IgD and IgT, defined by the heavy chains μ, δ and τ, respectively. As a result of whole genome duplication in the ancestor of the salmonid fish family, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) possess two highly similar Ig heavy chain gene complexes (A and B), comprising two μ genes, two δ genes, three intact τ genes and five τ pseu...
متن کاملLysozyme transgenic Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)
Disease outbreaks are a major constraint to salmon aquaculture worldwide. Therefore, there is considerable interest in ¢nding means to alleviate this problem by enhancing their innate immune system. Because lysozyme is an important component of this system, we generated a line of transgenic Atlantic salmon using a gene construct consisting of a rainbow trout lysozyme gene under the control of t...
